With a heated debate over at Anime3000, I was thinking, what makes an anime an anime, and what is wrong with OEL manga? So, since I had the time, I podcasted about it. Another delayed episode, but it was comming, along with others I assure you. (Also, is it just me, or does Terra have big boobs in that pic?)

Ya...I seem to be a computer plauge. The comp that I use for my main internet surfing has kinda been ifected and hacked. So that would explain the lack of...anything.

I would like to do something soon. Maybe get it up sometime soon-ish? Hang tight and check out Anime3000.

Ya, as the title says, I can't remember what ep this is. And even though I could look it up (hell, this is my blog), I'm just going to start a news season. So here you go, new podcasting. With me are my fellow 3JP members, Brie-chan, and SpiralXWarrior. Also, Doctor from the SSAA podcast is also a guest star in this awesome episode. So with all these awesome people compansating for a bad host, this is going to be the best episode ever...if I didn't have mic issues.

Job Attempt

Posted by 3 Japanophile Produtions | Posted in , , , | Posted on 5:30 PM

I'm applying for a staff writers job over at Anime 3000, so i have to post my 500 word essay somewhere, so here is as good as any. Feel free to read it and comment.

Anime and the Reasons for My Fandom

When most people talk about anime, there are a few questions that are usually asked, like: “What kind of anime do you like?” or “How did you get into anime?” and the ever popular, “What is/are your favorite anime?” I’m sure all of us have either answered and/or asked these questions, but there is one question that I think is rarely asked, “Why are you into anime?” Like all the other questions above, the answer will differ from individual to individual, but I really feel this is one of the most important questions for an anime reviewer.
First, let me give a brief history of how I was introduced into anime. My story is nothing amazing or out of the ordinary. I was one of those grade school kids who sat in front of the TV watching Dragonball Z on Toonami every weekday. I had no idea what anime was, or any real reason to, I just simply liked Dragonball Z. Soon, I started watching more of Toonami, and moved on to shows like Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin, still oblivious as to what anime was. I was purely driven to watch these shows because I liked them, not because they came from a land full of Ninja and Ramen. Time passed, and I continued to watch the same three shows, until I had my first true experience in learning what anime was with Adult Swim. Surprisingly, it was Family Guy that drove me to watch Adult Swim, but it wasn’t long before I ran into Inuyasha.
Captured by the same things that drew me in with the Toonami programming, I decided to learn more about these shows, and thus my long road to fandom began. First thing I did was watch more of Toonami and Adult Swim. I started to learn more about what exactly anime was. As soon as I had a solid definition, I stated seeking more out. Soon, I ran into Shonen Jump, which quickly boosted my interest not only in manga, but in anime as well. I was hooked. Years passed, and I kept watching whatever anime I could find, introducing it to friends, and wasted all my time playing Gundam Wing and Inuyasha flash games.
Looking back, I wonder why I stuck with anime above anything else. There where plenty of good movies, games, and TV shows that I enjoyed, so why anime? The facts boil down to one thing: I was addicted to the experiences that I had while watching anime. Sure, playing Super Nintendo made me want to be an X-man, or watching Star Wars made me want to be a Jedi, but anime was something that always gave me an experience that was unparalleled. It’s my opinion that a good about of people feel similar to the way I do about anime, else there wouldn’t be as many anime fans as there are.
It’s not that anime is cooler, (trust me, growing up reading comics and Super Nintendo was more than enough to occupy a grade-schooler’s time); it’s was that it gives a different feel from everything else. A feeling that, to this day, still keeps me motivated to blog, podcast, and sharing my fandom with others. I don’t do this because I want to be popular (though that is a desired side effect) I do it because those experiences where strong enough to make a lasting impression on me.

Shikon's WJS - Wierd Japanese Stuff

Posted by ShikonSoulreaper | Posted in | Posted on 6:20 PM

Im not sure exactly what this is... but its awesome. Before i tell you exactly what IU'm talking about, let me tell you a story. I was looking up my fave summer ED (Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, from Bakemonogatari) and i noticed the artist's name; [supercell]. NOw, like most ppl would do, i did a google search, seeing if i could hear more songs from this artist, but what i found wasn't much, so i just decided to see if i could find anything they had on the net. What i came up with was a video on Youku (a japanese video hosting site: the japanese version of youtube if you will). Not only did the video look good, but it sounded good as well.

oh wait, i forgot to mention, it was a AMV of sorts, not something i was expecting, but still, i gave it a shot. And im glad i did.

So after that, i thought, 'wow, josh, that was one hell of a song, not to mention the art was breathtaking. I need to get more of this.' So i did just that, i searched for what supercell was exactly, was it a band, a studio, anything? what was it? I still dont know what it really is, butt i do know that it has some sort of connection to Miku Hatsune videos. im not sure of any of the names of the songs (since my japanese is below a pre-schooler's) but i do know that i liked it enough to keep looking.

For those of you who dont know, Miku Hatsune is a character that sings using the Vocaloid synthesizer that was developed by the Yamaha Corporation. And as far as i can tell, Hatsune is mainly used to make J-Pop songs for anime and such, and is not the only character that is used in Vocaloid videos(tho she is my fave by far). Since she's appeared, she's been in anime such as Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei, and games like 13-sai no Hello Work DS (never played, but i might now).

All of the songs that Hatsume has done have been packaged into an album titled Re:package, and then a second album, Re:MIKUS. Of which contained remixed songs from already existing artists such as Supercell. The popularity of Vocaloid's digital music star has reached hights of reality. A good example of this was a concert where Hatsume performed 'live' w/ Gackt (another favorite of mine). i can't say I've seen it, but boy, does it sure make me want to.

So anyway, thats the WJS from Shikon.
Here's a better explaination than what I've given, but i think i said my piece.

I may be down, but im not out

my freaking laptop is dead, so now i cant record, edit or even watch anime.

Im sorry that it has come to thins, but it looks like if i do release any episodes it'll be few and far between, not to mention lower quality. So i'll see if i can still keep things alive somehow, but untill then, this podcast is ghost.

Hello again. This time i have managed to put out an episode weekly, so hats of to me for finaly doing my job correctly. So in this episode i don't review anything, but I do give a prievew of some of the new anime that has come out. This week its Canaan, an action packed anime with a kick-ass plot. Enjoy

Download here

I would givew you guys a listen online option, but my player seems to have exploded itself, so dont blame me.

Songs are:
Steel Samurai theme - Phoenix Write
Economical Shopers - The World Ends With You
Jumping Jack Flash - Elite Beat Agents

Here's the New Trailer for the Iron Man Wolverine and Hulk anime. All these films are being animated by madhouse, however, Planet Hulk is being animated mostly here in the states. So i guess that makes it American anime?

Ass backwords Animeshon Podcast episode 2

0

Posted by ShikonSoulreaper | Posted in | Posted on 10:54 AM

So, it took me a while, but i did it, i finished up the second part of the SSAA cross over.

Download here giaz.

Too much randomness in the episode to do any half assed time stamps, so you'll have to play it and hear it all. I also did another crossover with some frieds from MAL (My Anime List) so look for that sometime soon (depending on when i get all the parts for the episode), but i plan to have it done, (if it can be done at all T_T)

So ya, as always, enjoy the episode and stuff.

No episodes this week

0

Posted by ShikonSoulreaper | Posted in | Posted on 5:55 AM

Well, I've final buckeld down and did school, but as a result, no episode this week. I was planing to release part 2 of the crossover, but the way things went prevented me from doing so. I did, however, watch some anime and stay caught up on some manga, so when im back I'll have some brand new things to say (i need the time to nit pick and make new rants).

So I must apologize for all of my loyal listeners who have been with me from day one. I have failed you. But dont worry, my awful podcast willl be back sooner than you know it.
